We offer family law services on a full and limited scope retainer basis. We charge an hourly fee for legal services. Our time is recorded and invoices are rendered for the actual time spent by the lawyer and/or law clerk on client matters.
The total cost of family law services will depend on a number of factors, including the complexity of the matter and the degree of conflict between the parties. While it can be difficult to predict the exact cost of any legal matter from start to finish, we are conscious of the financial impact of separation on families. We strive to give our clients a realistic cost estimate during the initial consultation and we discuss costs and cost saving measures with clients at each stage of their matter.
Our firm accepts a limited number of Legal Aid Certificates for child protection and family law matters heard at the 47 Sheppard and 311 Jarvis courthouses.
In an effort to make legal services affordable and available to all, we do NOT offer free consultations.
An initial 30-minute consultation with the lawyer is $150, plus HST (total $169.50). For more complex matters, we may recommend a 1-hour consultation, which will be billed at the lawyer’s hourly rate of $300, plus HST ($339). Any additional time required to complete the consultation will be billed at the lawyer's hourly rate.
We require confirmation of the appointment and payment of the consultation fee at least 48 hours in advance of a consultation. If payment is not made, the appointment will be cancelled.
Please note that the consultation fee is NON-REFUNDABLE if the appointment is cancelled within 48 hours of the start time. If you are late for your appointment, your time slot will not be held for more than 10 minutes after the scheduled start time.
Payment can be made online using a credit card (above), or by sending an Interac E-Transfer to email@example.com
